Craig McEwen is Anglo American and DeBeers Group of Companies Chief Information Security Officer. He holds a PGDIP in International Relations, PGDIP in Business Management, a PGCE in Education and a BSc in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics. Prior to Joining Anglo American Craig built the cyber threat intelligence function at Vodafone Group and prior to this served as an Officer in the British Army, operating in Afghanistan in support of NATO and Somalia in support of the Somali Transitional Government (directly to the president) and DfID.
In his role as CISO Craig has built a team over 3 years that provides cyber incident response, digital forensics, threat hunting, threat intelligence and vulnerability management in both the IT and Operational Technology (OT) layers. The move into OT has seen an unprecedented collaboration between mine site teams and the cyber security function, which has culminated in a collaborative project led by Craig to provide cyber monitoring of infrastructure within mine sites on a 27/7 basis.
Craig is also responsible for establishing the first cross mining sector forum with the NCSC which meets quarterly to review industry specific cyber threats and develop collaborative solutions to these threats and he currently chairs this group.
